Arrival at Chennai Airport, upon arrival drive to Mahabalipuram (approx 70 km/ 1.5 hrs).
Today full day sight seeing Mahabalipuram, Places to visit: Arjuna’s Penance , the Mandapas, The Rathas ( 5 chariots), the Shore Temple.
We drive to Pondicherry (approx 100 km/ 2 hrs) en route visit Kancheepuram.Places to visit in Pondicherry visit the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, touch and try the meditation and stroll around the colony still has the French touch and Auroville colony , Market,etc…
We proceed towards Tanjore (approx 190 km/ 5 hrs). Places to visit: Brihadisvara Temple, Maratha Palace and bronze casting.
Karaikkudi (approx 90 km/ 2hrs) is traditionally part of the ancestral home of the Chettiyars. The Nattukottai Chettiyars was a prosperous banking community that was successful in overseas business in South and Southeast Asia during the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Explore Karakkudi….Rest of the day free to relax and enjoy the Chettinad cuisine.
Today we drive to Madurai (approx 100 km/ 2 hrs). Visit Madurai Meenakshi Temple . Thirumala Naik Palace, etc… The city is known for its rich heritage, culture and historical background and is most famous for the Meenakshi Temple.
Drive to Munnar (approx 150km /5 hrs), a major centre of Kerala’s tea industry, and close to Anamudi (2695m), the highest peak in South India. It is surrounded by about 30 tea estates, among the highest in the world, and forest that is still rich in wildlife, including the reclusive Nilgiri Tahr.
Visit Mattupetty Dam, Echo Point, Local market, CSI Church, etc….
The highlands of Kerala - Thekkady (approx 120 km/4 hrs). The journey takes you through softly contoured hill slopes surrounded by plantations of rubber, pepper and spices like cardamom, coffee & tea. visit the Spice plantations and you can also witness Kerala’s famous marshal arts form Kalarippayattu,Natural walk through the forest , Elephant safari, etc...
Kumarakom (approx 120 km/4 hrs), a small village located on the banks of Vembanadu Lake. . An incredibly stunning ecstasy of mangrove forests, pea green paddy meadows and coconut coppices intermingled with enthralling waterways and canals.Nature has poised its magic to perfection here.Rest of the day free to relax.
Today we proceed to Alleppey ( 40 km) to board rice boat for our cruise through the small canals and Vembanadu Lake. Arrive Alleppey and embark the House boat that comprises twin rooms with attached bathrooms , running water and a lounge area in which to relax and enjoy the sights on the shore. Cruise through the backwaters of Alleppey, which is hailed as the ‘ Venice of the east’, because of its intricated maized and backwaters, cannals and bridges. In the boat you can enjoy the traditional Kerala style dishes .
we drive to the beautiful beach of Marari (approx 15 km). Marari Beach is an endless vista of sand and surf, but it is more. An authentic experience of the world Kerala's traditional fishing villages, and a recreation of an ancient, harmonious way of life. Rest of the dsy free to relax.
Today we drive to Kochi (approx 60 km/ 1.5 hrs) ,from time immemorial travellers from across the seas came here in search of the fabled wealth of the Malabar Coast. The Portuguese and British architeacture all blend harmoniously with the base of Kerala heritage. Cochin has the finest natural harbour and is called the “ Queen of the Arabian Sea” .
Visit the Mattancherry Palace – also called the Dutch Palace, the Clock Tower, The synagogue built in the 18th century and the St. Francis church, and then the Chinese Fishing Nets, which adorn the north shore.
