Situated in Tiruchirappalli district, on the banks of the River Kaveri (also spelt as Cauvery) is Tiruchirappalli, a city known for its educational institutions, industries, and temples. It is shortly called as "Tiruchi" or "Trichy".

Srirangam:It is one of the most illustrious Vaishnava temples in South India rich in legend and history. Its location, on an island in Cauvery river, has rendered it vulnerable to natural disasters as well as the rampaging of invading armies – Muslim and European – which repeatedly commandeered the site for military encampment. The annual 21 day festival conducted during the Tamil month of Margazhi (December–January) attracts 1 million visitors. Srirangam temple is often listed as the largest functioning Hindu temple in the world, the still larger Angkor Wat being the largest existing temple.

Srirangapani Temple:The Sri Ranganthaswamy temple in Srirangapatinam, in the Indian state of Karnataka, is a temple dedicated to the Hindu God Ranganatha, a manifestation of Vishnu and is one of the Pancharanga Kshetrams. The town of Srirangapatna, which derives its name from the temple, is located on an island in the river Kaveri. Viralimalai Peacock Sanctuary: This is one of the few places where Peacocks, the National bird of India, are abundant. A large number of wild Peacocks roam around the Murugan Temple and surrounding woodlands, which form a sanctuary for the birds.[4] The town, Temple and Peacock Sanctuary have been declared and funded as a Heritage Place by order of the Governor.
